Microsoft (MSFT) Elliott Wave Analysis: Wave 3 Target of 1,428
Microsoft's long-term Elliott Wave structure continues to point toward the potential for a substantial advance, with the current wave count suggesting that the stock may be positioned for a powerful Wave 3 rally.
The structure begins with an extraordinary Wave 1 advance from 15 to 555. Following that enormous move, Microsoft entered a significant Wave 2 correction, declining from 555 to 349.
With Wave 1 and Wave 2 now established, the focus shifts toward the potential development of Wave 3.
The current Elliott Wave projection places the Wave 3 target at 1,428.
That target represents the primary upside objective within the current wave count and would imply that Microsoft has entered a major long-term impulsive phase following the completion of Wave 2 at 349.
The scale of the preceding Wave 1 is particularly important. Microsoft advanced from just 15 to 555, representing an extraordinary increase in value and establishing a powerful first impulse within the larger Elliott Wave structure. Although the subsequent decline to 349 was substantial in absolute terms, it did not erase the larger advance that preceded it.
Instead, the correction can be interpreted as a Wave 2 retracement following the completion of Wave 1.
This distinction is critical.
In Elliott Wave analysis, a large first-wave advance can be followed by a significant correction without necessarily invalidating the larger bullish structure. Wave 2 corrections can be violent and psychologically difficult because they retrace a meaningful portion of the preceding move. Their purpose within the larger structure, however, is to correct the initial impulse before the market potentially begins its most powerful phase.
That is where Wave 3 becomes important.
Under the current count, the decline from 555 to 349 represents Wave 2. Once that correction is complete, the next major structural phase is expected to be Wave 3, with the projected target at 1,428.
A move toward 1,428 would represent an enormous continuation of Microsoft's long-term bullish structure.
Wave 3 is frequently regarded as the most powerful portion of an Elliott Wave impulse. It is the phase in which the market begins to recognize the underlying trend and momentum can accelerate dramatically. Once a Wave 3 advance becomes established, the market can move considerably faster than it did during Wave 1 because uncertainty surrounding the emerging trend begins to disappear.
For Microsoft, the key reference point is therefore 349.
That is the level identified as the completion of Wave 2. As long as the broader structure remains consistent with that interpretation, the potential for a major Wave 3 advance remains intact.
The projected destination is 1,428.
The magnitude of the target should not be dismissed simply because it appears far above the current structural levels. Elliott Wave projections are designed to identify potential destinations within larger market cycles, and the size of the preceding Wave 1 provides important context for understanding the potential scale of the next impulse.
Microsoft has already demonstrated the ability to produce extraordinary long-term advances. The move from 15 to 555 established that capability within the current wave structure.
The subsequent correction to 349 therefore becomes the launching point for the next potential phase.
The most important question is whether the market can establish sustained upward momentum from the Wave 2 low. If it does, the structure would begin to provide confirmation that Wave 3 is underway.
As Microsoft advances, traders should watch for a sequence of increasingly strong rallies and relatively contained corrections. Such behavior would be consistent with an impulsive Wave 3 environment.
The market would not necessarily move directly from 349 to 1,428.
In fact, expecting a straight-line advance would misunderstand the nature of Elliott Wave analysis. Even powerful Wave 3 advances contain smaller-degree corrections, consolidations, and periods of uncertainty. The larger objective remains intact as long as those corrections remain consistent with the expected structure.
The 1,428 target should therefore be viewed as a long-term structural objective rather than a prediction that Microsoft will reach the level without interruption.
The progression from Wave 1 to Wave 2 is already clearly defined within this count:
Wave 1: 15 → 555
Wave 2: 555 → 349
Wave 3 target: 1,428
This sequence provides a straightforward roadmap for the larger trend.
The completion of Wave 1 at 555 established the initial impulse. The correction to 349 then provided the Wave 2 retracement. From there, the current analysis anticipates a major Wave 3 advance toward 1,428.
One of the most important characteristics of a developing third wave is increasing market recognition. Early in the move, investors may remain skeptical and view rallies as temporary. As the advance continues and previous highs are exceeded, sentiment can shift rapidly. More participants begin recognizing the trend, and momentum can feed upon itself.
That dynamic is precisely why Wave 3 projections can be so substantial.
Microsoft's enormous prior Wave 1 also provides an important psychological reference. Investors have already witnessed the stock produce a massive long-term advance. A successful completion of Wave 2 followed by a new impulsive phase could therefore create the conditions for another major expansion.
The path toward 1,428 will ultimately depend on whether the Elliott Wave structure continues to validate itself through price action.
If the stock begins advancing strongly from the 349 Wave 2 low, each successive breakout would increase the evidence supporting the bullish interpretation. The longer the stock maintains higher highs and higher lows while respecting the larger wave structure, the stronger the case becomes for a continuing Wave 3 advance.
Conversely, if the structure begins to deteriorate materially, the wave count would need to be reassessed.
This is an important principle of Elliott Wave analysis: projections are conditional upon the structure remaining valid. A target is not a guarantee. It is a calculated destination based on the current interpretation of the market's wave pattern.
For now, however, the roadmap is exceptionally clear.
Microsoft completed its initial Wave 1 advance from 15 to 555. The stock subsequently corrected to 349, establishing the Wave 2 low in the current count. The next major objective is a Wave 3 advance toward 1,428.
That target represents the central focus of the long-term analysis.
The significance of the 1,428 objective extends beyond the number itself. It represents the potential completion of a major expansion phase following an enormous first-wave advance and a substantial second-wave correction.
If the structure develops as anticipated, the move from 349 toward 1,428 could become one of the defining advances of Microsoft's larger Elliott Wave cycle.
For now, 349 remains the critical Wave 2 reference point, while 1,428 represents the primary Wave 3 target.
The market will ultimately determine whether the projection is fulfilled. But based on the current Elliott Wave structure, the potential setup is clear: a massive Wave 1 from 15 to 555, a Wave 2 correction to 349, and a projected Wave 3 advance toward 1,428.
That is the long-term MSFT roadmap to watch.
